US Brick has unveiled plans to expand its operations in Richland County with a $5.5 million investment.
Originally founded in Columbia in 1939 as Carolina Ceramics, the company was rebranded as US Brick following its acquisition in 2020. Now based in Charleston, US Brick operates facilities across South Carolina, Alabama, Indiana, and Tennessee, boasting an annual production capacity of 350 million bricks.
The upcoming expansion will include the modernization of US Brick’s facility at 9931 Two Notch Road in Columbia. This includes the addition of a secondary kiln and a new manufacturing line, which will effectively double the plant’s production capacity.
Construction will be completed in phases and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
