Swinerton Builders has begun construction on Market on Morehead, a 10,000-square-foot restaurant in Charlotte’s southend. The project, located at 1001 Morehead Drive in The Offices of Carson Station, is on track for completion by the end of the year with an opening planned this winter.

Market on Morehead, co-owned by restauranteur Josh Willoughby, can seat up to 400 guests. It features a 62-table dining room, a 50-seat double-sided bar, a 2,800-square-foot climate-controlled patio with a large LED TV, a fenced turf park for off-leash dogs, and indoor/outdoor performance stages. The build includes a sunken seating area due to low ceilings, requiring a 1,167-square-foot slab cut three feet deep. A new grease trap line will be bored beneath a neighboring tenant’s space during off-hours. Swinerton will also self-perform specialty finishes such as door installation and concrete trench pours.

The restaurant is designed by Wagner Murray with interiors by Black Dove Interiors. Design highlights include a central water feature, wine display walls, coffered ceilings, mirrored walls, folding glass walls and doors, and a flexible private dining room with bifold walls.

Swinerton’s Carolinas Division has completed nearly $550 million in commercial projects since 2018, including several notable restaurants across the region.
