Despite so many uncertainties, the construction industry remains a consistent and vital component of the economy. Like many businesses, Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc., a leading electrical contractor throughout New England and the Southeast for over four decades, has not been immune to the effects of this virus, but feels fortunate to have remained open and is proud to have maintained key business operations throughout the pandemic.

With a strong portfolio of new and ongoing projects to look forward to throughout its five regions, the company is committed to keeping its team working. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has created new challenges, there is also the possibility of new opportunities.

Whether you are someone who lost employment during this difficult period and may be looking for a career change, or a member of our country’s military who may be navigating the uncertainties of a transition to civilian life, Griffin Electric and its Apprenticeship Training Program is an excellent pathway to future success.

The company’s recruitment efforts are not only an important part of building a committed workforce, but also exposes different audiences to the potential benefits of a career as an electrician or telecom technician. While Griffin Electric has always made it a priority to recruit and introduce veterans to the electrical trade as a viable career path, these individuals are perhaps even more valued now in the wake of the pandemic; military personnel are trained to work in stressful and uncertain situations, and need to be resilient and resourceful.

Veterans are also dedicated, loyal, and hard- working individuals, and possess precisely the type of traits that Griffin Electric seeks in its employees. These assets, coupled with their experiences, training, and many other essential characteristics can translate into successful and sustainable careers in the trades, and align seamlessly with the company’s culture.

A number of current Griffin employees previously served in the U.S. Armed Forces in various capacities and leadership roles. The company can appreciate how challenging the adjustments away from military life can be and strives to help these men and women however it can to make the transition into a new career as smooth as possible.

Griffin Electric has fostered a supportive environment from top to bottom, beginning with the company’s free in-house Apprenticeship Training Program. With CDC recommended health and safety guidelines in place, the program continues to shape the future leaders of tomorrow, as it has for more than a quarter of a century.

Accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and designated as an approved training site by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the program features a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job learning.

Throughout the Apprenticeship Training Program school year, classroom and hands-on instruction takes place in the 27,500-sq. ft. of dedicated training space that is part of Griffin Electric’s headquarters in Holliston, MA, and on-site at each of the company’s regional offices in Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte, NC; Pelham, AL; and Duluth, GA.

In addition to 600 hours of classroom instruction, Griffin’s apprentices benefit from on-the-job learning, where they earn excellent wages and benefits while gaining 8,000 hours of practical field experience under the supervision of a licensed journeyperson. Through employment with Griffin Electric, and satisfactory participation and progress in its Apprenticeship Training Program, eligible veterans may also receive a monthly stipend from the VA through the Post-9/11 GI Bill to help meet the cost of everyday expenses.

At Griffin Electric, even amid the challenges of a pandemic, the possibilities for future success are abundant. The company has seen many apprentices and electricians grow within the company and even advance into foreperson, estimating, and project management positions. For veterans, or anyone else trying to figure out their next chapter,

Griffin can be your pathway to a rewarding and successful career.
