The U.S. Senate voted 60-40 to advance a funding measure that will keep the federal government open through January 30, 2026, and pass three appropriations bills, including Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, and Legislative Branch spending. The package now heads to the House of Representatives before moving to the President’s desk for approval.

The funding bill includes $680 million for military construction projects in North Carolina, supporting upgrades and expansions across key installations:

  • Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point – F-35 Aircraft Sustainment Center

  • Seymour Johnson Air Force Base – Combat Arms Training and Maintenance Complex

  • Fort Bragg – Special Operations Forces Mission Command Center

These projects will enhance operational readiness, modernize training facilities, and create construction opportunities in North Carolina communities.

“This funding will support critical infrastructure across our state’s military bases, strengthening national defense and providing construction jobs for local workers,” said Senator Ted Budd (R-N.C.).

In addition to military construction, the bill provides $709 million for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Opioid Prevention and Treatment Programs, ensures new authorities for the Food and Drug Administration to curb illegal e-cigarette sales, and closes the hemp loophole to regulate intoxicating products like Delta-8.
