The North Carolina Masonry Contractors’ Association (NCMCA) has extended its annual invitation for apprentices to compete for cash and tool prizes, along with company bragging rights, at the the 2018 Annual Samuel A. McGee Memorial Masonry Apprentice Skills Contest.

NCMCA executive director Lynn Nash says 2017 contest champion Jamison “JK” Huntley and Huntley Brothers Company will defend their title on Saturday May 19 at the Adams/Oldcastle facility on Metromont Industrial Blvd. in Charlotte.

“Every contestant wins cash and tool prizes,” Nash writes. “The winner takes home the David R. Sigmon Award for top score and the right to represent North Carolina at the MCAA (Mason Contractors Association of America) Masonry Skills Challenge in 2019 at Las Vegas. (JK went on to win the MCAA contest earlier this year.)
