Mega Metal, a global copper wire manufacturer based in Turkey, has selected Fairfield County for its first U.S. operation—a $34 million investment that will establish a new production facility and create 135 jobs.

The company will retrofit a 91,000-sq. ft. structure at 364 Blue Granite Pkwy. in Ridgeway to manufacture superfine electrolytic oxygen-free (EOF) copper wire. The state-of-the-art plant is expected to produce approximately 55 million pounds of copper wire annually, serving sectors such as automotive, aerospace, medical, and defense.

Construction is currently underway and will be completed in September.

The facility will support Mega Metal’s expansion into the North American market and strengthen domestic supply chains for high-demand copper wire products. The project also reflects a broader trend of advanced manufacturing growth in South Carolina, particularly in the Midlands region.

“This investment in Fairfield County is a reflection of our long-term commitment to the North American market,” said Mega Metal Inc. Board Chairman Cuneyt Turgut. “Mega Metal is poised to become a key player in the U.S. supply chain.”

The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits to support the project.

>Mega Metal employs over 700 workers globally and distributes copper products to more than 30 countries. The Fairfield County site marks a strategic move to bring manufacturing closer to key U.S. customers.

Hiring for the Ridgeway facility is expected to begin closer to the plant’s opening. Job seekers can monitor the company’s careers page for updates.
