Habitat for Humanity of Wake County completed the annual Home Builders Blitz from June 13-20 in Southeast Raleigh near Old Poole Road and New Hope Road.
Professional builders volunteered time and resources, working with local community businesses and organizations to successfully meet the goal of building four homes in seven days. The build was captured on this time lapse video.

Home Builders Blitz was founded 22 years ago by Tom Gipson in Wake County, and has since become a tradition at Habitats across the country. The event brings together local for-profit builders to construct Habitat homes for local families in just one week. It concludes with a Dedication Ceremony celebrating the hard work of the homeowners, builders, volunteers and supporters that make the event possible.

City of Raleigh inspectors supported the blitz, inspecting for plumbing, electrical, and mechanical installations so they were up to code.

“Inspectors provided building safety inspections and were on call to answer code questions so the builders could meet their deadlines,” said Chief Residential Inspector George Read. “We look forward to providing our services again next year to help new homeowners enjoy homes that are safe and secure.”

Cornerstone Building Brands was the presenting sponsor, providing financial support, and supplying Plygem windows and Mastic® Ovation siding for the Blitz homes. The following builders volunteered their time this year:

Habitat Wake has built more than 900 homes in Wake and Johnston counties, making sure families have access to affordable homes that are comfortable, safe and energy efficient. This event was a special comeback as the first Builders Blitz since 2018, due to a break caused by the pandemic.
