The FAYAT Group has broken ground on a new 100,000-sq. ft. parts distribution center in Fairfield County, marking a $13.7 million expansion of its North American operations.

The facility will support the company’s Road Equipment Division, which includes BOMAG Americas, Dynapac North America, Charlatte North America, Asphalt Drum Mixers, FAYAT Cleantech and the recently acquired Mecalac Group. It will be located next to the existing BOMAG Americas headquarters.

The project is expected to strengthen aftersales support, increase localized manufacturing and enhance training capabilities for FAYAT’s customers across North America.

“This expansion is more than a business decision — it’s a testament to our confidence in the future of North America and our deep appreciation for the hardworking communities here,” said FAYAT Group President Jean-Claude Fayat during the groundbreaking ceremony. “It’s a symbol of our strategic investment in Fairfield County, our dealers and our customers.”

Joining Fayat at the ceremony were South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, State Sen. Everett Stubbs, State Rep. Annie E. McDaniel, Fairfield County Council Chair Clarence Gilbert and Economic Development Director Ann Broadwater.

McMaster said the company’s decision to expand its Fairfield County footprint speaks to the strength of South Carolina’s business climate.

“FAYAT Group’s $13.7 million expansion once again proves that South Carolina provides existing businesses with the resources needed to find continued success,” McMaster said. “We’ve built a culture that supports businesses every step of the way.”

Rob Mueckler, general manager of FAYAT’s Road Equipment Division, credited the local workforce for the company’s success in the region.

“Ten years ago, the FAYAT Group made a strategic decision to invest in Fairfield County. Ever since, we’ve experienced tremendous success, thanks in no small part to the outstanding local workforce,” he said. “The skill, commitment and work ethic of the people have made a lasting impact on our business.”

Chairman Gilbert added that the project reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the area.

“FAYAT Group’s decision to expand its operation here in Ridgeway represents not only a major investment in infrastructure, but also a reaffirmation of faith in this community — its people, its potential and its future,” he said.

The distribution center is expected to open in 2025.
