BuildOps Inc., which makes software for commercial trade contractors, announced it will invest more than $770,000 to build a new operations hub in Raleigh, its third in North America. The company is based in Los Angeles and also operates in Toronto.

“North Carolina offers companies like BuildOps a deep pool of tech talent,” Gov. Josh Stein said in a statement. “Our education and workforce programs give companies the skilled people they need to grow. We welcome this veteran-owned business to North Carolina.”

Founded in 2018, BuildOps provides project management, dispatching, invoicing and service software for commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical contractors. Company officials say the new hub will support its fast-growing customer base across the U.S. and Canada.

“We’re thrilled to establish our newest operations hub in Raleigh, a city known for its exceptional talent and strong business environment,” said BuildOps CEO and co-founder Alok Chanani. “This expansion is a key step in our mission to transform the commercial trades industry.”

The company’s expansion will be supported in part by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) approved by the state’s Economic Investment Committee. The grant could provide up to $1.8 million in state reimbursements over 12 years, based on the company meeting its hiring goals. The project is expected to grow North Carolina’s economy by more than $700 million over that period.

State payments will only be made if the company meets job creation and investment targets, according to the N.C. Department of Commerce.
