Wilmington based Liberty Healthcare Management has received approval from Charlotte city officials for its mixed-use senior residential complex in SouthPark.

Referred to as Liberty SouthPark in city documents, the development will sit on a 10.5-acre site behind SouthPark Towers on Fairview Rd. and is slated to be a five-building project that will create more than 650 residential units of varying care levels and about 180,000 sq. ft. of retail and medical uses, Charlotte Business Journal reports.

Approved site plans indicate 214 apartments, 338 independent-living units, 58 assisted-living units and a 75-room hotel will be developed. Approximately 113,000 sq. ft. has been designated as retail, office and restaurant uses, with a condition that some nonresidential uses may be converted to residential if necessary.

Three buildings containing the continuing-care retirement center, skilled-nursing and memory-care units, and a medical office will sit at the center of the development. Most retail will occupy the ground floor of the development’s two multifamily buildings at the front of the community.
