Brinkmann Constructors has broken ground on the Wendell Commerce Center, a new industrial development in eastern Wake County that will bring nearly 500,000 sq. ft. of speculative warehouse space to the region in its first phase.
The project is being developed in partnership with Summit Real Estate Group and marks Brinkmann’s seventh industrial project with the client. The multi-phase development outside Raleigh is on a 230-acre site, 0.5 miles from the entrance to I-87 and Highway 64 (Wendell Boulevard). The location provides direct access to Raleigh, the I-540 outer belt, and Highway 264, which continues eastward to I-95.Phase 1 will include the vertical construction of three modern, multi-tenant industrial buildings totaling approximately 493,730 sq. ft.. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025, with delivery of the buildings expected in the second quarter of 2026.
The buildings are designed to support a wide range of industrial users, including companies involved in manufacturing, distribution, transportation, and industrial services. Wendell Commerce Center is planned as a multi-phase development that will eventually total approximately 1.8 million square feet across eight buildings.
The project is intended to help meet growing demand for flexible, high-quality industrial space in the Triangle region and contribute to the area’s continued economic momentum.
