The City of Asheville’s Community and Economic Development Department is now accepting applications for the Housing Trust Fund (HTF) for fiscal year 2024-25.

Since it was created in 2000, the fund has provided a source of local funding to develop affordable housing in Asheville. Assistance is available in the form of repayable loans at low interest rates.

Between 2001 and 2019, approximately 1,300 units have been built using this funding source.

The Housing Trust Fund provides low-interest loans for a variety of projects that serve low- and moderate-income people. Projects may be rental or homeownership.

Visit the Housing Trust Fund webpage to view the HTF policy, download documents, and access the application.

The application deadline is Jan. 31, 2024, at 12 noon.

Staff will host an online informational webinar on January 5,  2024, at 11:00 am to review the requirements and application process. To receive a link to the webinar, email staff at Affordablehousing@ashevillenc.gov.
