The Town of Aberdeen has approved a $368,000 contract with Charlotte-based architectural firm ADW to provide design services, prepare the bid documents and oversee construction administration for the new police facility.
The new facility is expected to cost $4.2 million, while the construction of the building would take up to 12 months, The Pilot reports.
The new almost 13,000-square-foot building would house all the conventional police operations, including a detention area, evidence room, interview rooms and holding cells, a conference room, and offices.
Whereas, plans call for the existing 5,230-square-foot building to be used for things such as locker and shower rooms, a fitness room, a training room that could be available to outside groups and general storage.
