The new Abbotts Creek Elementary School in North Raleigh is on track to open in August, despite the theft of 7,000 pounds of copper wire and pipe from the construction site.
(At a rough value of $2.50 per pound, the copper might fetch about $17,500 on the recycling market.)
The school will open with a community center for the city of Raleigh, with a gymnasium, fitness room, classrooms, elevated indoor track, and more.
The building has been designed by Clark Nexsen, and the construction manager is Barnhill Contracting Co.
