Construction has startedd on Summit House, the first residential building within Veridea, a 1,100-acre mixed-use development in the Town of Apex.

The groundbreaking event brought together RXR team members, local officials, and community leaders.

Summit House will be the first vertical structure in Veridea, a master-planned community designed to eventually include up to 8,000 residential units, a new Wake Technical Community College campus, 3.5 million square feet of retail and hospitality space, and the future North Carolina Children’s Hospital. The 500-bed hospital is expected to bring thousands of jobs to the region.

RXR Realty is the developer behind Summit House, while Samet Corporation has been selected as construction manager, overseeing site preparation and the first phase of vertical construction. Summit House represents the transition from infrastructure and land development to actual housing within the community.

Despite rainy weather, the groundbreaking celebration emphasized the start of construction for RXR’s multifamily apartment complex. Summit House will serve as a model for future residential buildings in Veridea.

Veridea’s full buildout is expected to take 10 to 12 years and will combine residential, educational, healthcare, retail, and recreational spaces. Initial phases include infrastructure improvements, multifamily housing, and retail, with long-term plans for additional office, commercial, and institutional developments.

The developer said Summit House will be a key step in creating a mixed-use neighborhood that integrates housing with public amenities, educational facilities, and employment opportunities, aligning with Apex’s growth strategy.
