The Greensboro City Council approved several projects for better pedestrian access in the city, reports Fox 8.

The council approved an agreement for $3.3 million with the state Department of Transportation for the construction of sidewalks on both sides of West Wendover Ave. from Grecade St. to Church St. Sidewalks will also be created on East Wendover Ave. from both sides of Summit Ave. to US 29, according to the broadcaster.

Council also voted for $1.15 million for the construction of the South Josephine Boyd St. roadway and sidewalk improvement project. Work will include paving, pedestrian signals, ADA-compliant sidewalks and wheelchair ramps that will run from Spring Garden St. to Wright Ave., near UNCG.

The city intends to begin work on the project sometime later this year.
