A construction worker died on Sept. 26 on the North Carolina State University’s new Plant Sciences Building site after a lift collapsed in wet ground, the NC Department of Labor (NCDOL) has reported.
The lift carrying the worker was extended about 35 feet in the air when the dirt caved in around one of its tires, DOL spokesperson Natalie Bouchard told the News & Observer.
DPR Construction identified the subcontractor as Tiburcio Mendoza.
