Nearly 500 industry leaders packed downtown Greenville, SC for the Carolinas Associated General Contractors (CAGC) construction industry summit in late July amid good signs of growth for construction across the Carolinas.

Attendees from all ranks of the construction industry attended business education seminars, received legislative reports, participated in a trade show, learned how to improve the labor shortage, met for HR/safety conferences and related awards and enjoyed a golf tournament at Furman University Golf Club, the CAGC said in a news release.

“The conference culminated in a construction industry summit headlined by a star-studded speaker panel including celebrated political power couple James Carville and Mary Matalin, first female U.S. Navy F-14 bomber pilot Carey Lohrenz, communications expert Curt Steinhorst and political insider John Davis,” the announcement said.

Attendees also met with leading owners, designers, business developers and other leaders in the construction industry in the Carolinas as well as AGC and ARTBA representatives from Washington, D.C.

“We celebrate leadership in all facets of the construction industry,” said CAGC’s president and CEO, Dave Simpson. “Great leaders are a result of unique experiences, and our speakers armed attendees with the tools to take their business to the next level. We’re excited about the growth opportunities for our industry and CAGC will be there to make sure it happens.”

Greenville Mayor Knox White gave a welcome address, which Simpson said showed how Greenville, SC outdid itself as an excellent destination for the Southeast’s premier construction industry conference.

Participants attended a signing ceremony honoring a continually strengthening partnership centered on safety. The partnership document was signed by Carolinas AGC and Richele Taylor, director of the SC department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Carolinas AGC also has a similar alliance with the NC Department of Labor and Commissioner Cherie Berry.
